Abstract: Candidate Jen Rude stumps her ELCA candidacy committee.
STUMPED!: It appears that Jen Rude, an openly lesbian candidate for ordination in the Sierra-Pacific Synod has stumped her candidacy committee. Throughout the candidacy process, Jen has taken a stance of principled non-compliance with respect to the ELCA's celibacy requirement. Her approval interview on October 20 is reported to have gone well and we hear that the sub-committee that interviewed her recommended approval. The whole candidacy committee, however, was unable to reach a decision, and so Jen's candidacy was neither affirmed, denied nor postponed.
