Matthew Shepard Act Passes
Abstract: Will the U.S. offer protection from hate crimes to people of all sexual preferences and gender identities?
On Thursday, Sept. 27, the Matthew Shepard Act was approved by the U.S. Senate. Both houses of congress have now approved legislation to expand the definiton of hate crimes to protect people of all sexual orientations and gender identities. The legislation still requires the President's signature.
